How to Choose Your Shaft Flex

How to Choose Your Shaft Flex

It is widely known that the type of shaft you have on your clubs can make a massive difference for your game. It can be argued that the type of shaft you have is more important than the clubs themselves. It is imperative that your shaft matches your swing speed and skill level.

The 5 types of shafts for golf clubs are: Women's Flex, Senior Flex, Regular Flex, Stiff Flex, and Extra Stiff Flex.

The main differentiators when selecting a shaft flex are your swing speed, ball flight, and tempo. Higher swing speeds will want a stiffer shaft for control, whereas if you're a beginner and still not swinging the club as hard you may want more of a regular flex to get some added whip and distance.

Make sure that if you're getting fitted or just shopping for clubs on your own that you pay attention to what type of shaft will best fit your game. At GolfRoots we have a customization center called Back Corner Builds with hundreds of shaft options available to be swapped out based on customer preference.
