The Apex name dates back to the 1970s, when Ben Hogan Golf sold Apex irons long before Callaway existed. Callaway bought the Hogan brand in the early 2000s, retired the name for a while, then brought Apex back in 2013 as its forged players line.

What's forged

Apex irons are built from forged 1025 carbon steel with a separate forged face insert, the combination most players associate with a softer, more responsive feel at impact than a cast iron.

Why golfers keep buying used

Apex irons tend to hold their playability well past the model cycle. A used set from a recent generation still performs close to current releases at a fraction of retail.
