Time to Regrip Your Clubs

Grips wear out faster than most golfers think. Here's how to tell when it's time and how GolfRoots handles regripping in-house.

Grips wear out faster than most golfers think, especially if you play through a Texas summer. Sweat, sunscreen, and UV exposure break down rubber and cord grips well before the average player notices, and a worn grip changes how the club sits in your hands more than people expect.

Two quick tests

Run your thumb across the grip. If it feels smooth and shiny instead of tacky, it's past its useful life. Then look at the surface for cracking or flat spots where your hands sit most, both are signs it's time for a new one.

How often

Most golfers who play weekly should regrip once a year. If you play more than twice a week or store your clubs in a hot garage or trunk, every six months is safer.

What GolfRoots offers

We regrip clubs in-house, we offer regripping on any club, and we sell grips individually if you'd rather do your own. The GolfRoots Velvet Standard grip is a soft, tacky, all-weather option built for full swing clubs, and the GolfRoots Classic Pistol grip is built specifically for putters, with a flatter profile that helps keep your hands consistent on the green.
