What is Stevens Park like to play?
Expect doglegs, creeks, small greens and elevation changes rather than length. GolfPass calls it tight, and the par 5 16th plays to an elevated green across a ravine. Holes 11, 13, 15 and 16 have downtown skyline views. The Dallas Observer named it co-winner of Best Public Golf Course in 2025, calling it the most scenic municipal course in Dallas and noting that it's affordable and walkable.
What is the history of Stevens Park?
Stevens Park opened in May 1924 with a design by Jack Burke Sr. and Syd Cooper, according to the Dallas Morning News. In 2011 John Colligan and Trey Kemp finished a $7.9 million, 10-month redesign that rerouted 12 holes and added 38 bunkers. The course sits inside the Kessler Park Historic District. Golf Digest ranked it among the best public courses in Texas in 2024.
