Indian Creek Golf Club Guide: 36 Holes in Carrollton

Carrollton's city golf club has two 7,000-yard courses, Creek and Lakes, plus a Toptracer range. Here's how they differ.

Indian Creek Golf Club is the City of Carrollton's 36-hole public golf facility on Frankford Road. It has two par 72 courses: the longer Creek course, which the club calls its championship course, and the Lakes course, renovated in 2019 and known as the more accessible of the two. There's also a Toptracer driving range.

Creek or Lakes: which should I play?

Creek is the big hitter's course. The club calls it the "grip it and rip it" championship layout, and the Elm Fork of the Trinity River runs along the back nine. Hole 12 is a 260-yard par 3, and hole 16 is a 601-yard par 5. Jeff Brauer redesigned it in 2004.

Lakes got a $4 million renovation by architect Todd Clark in 2019, with new greens, fairways and cart paths. The club describes it as accessible and affordable, and it's flat and walkable. A good choice for newer golfers or a relaxed round.

What is the history of Indian Creek?

Dick Phelps designed both courses. Creek opened in 1983 and Lakes in 1987, according to the Texas Golf Association. Both courses were closed for a time after the 2015 Lake Lewisville flooding and later reopened.
