Trade-In Day at Your Club: What Members Should Know Before They Bring Their Clubs

Your club is hosting a GolfRoots trade-in day. Here's how it works, where your credit goes, what to bring and how to get the most out of it.

When your club hosts a GolfRoots trade-in day, our team sets up at the club for about four hours, looks over the clubs you bring, and gives you a value on the spot. Your trade-in value becomes credit at your own club's golf shop, so you can put it straight toward a new driver, wedges or anything else the shop sells. Here's what to expect and how to get the most out of it.

How does a trade-in day work?

  1. Your club announces it. We send the club marketing materials ahead of time, so watch the newsletter, signage and emails from the golf shop.
  2. You bring your clubs. Our trained team is at a table in or near the golf shop for about four hours.
  3. We look over each club. Value depends on the model, the specs and the condition.
  4. Your credit goes to the golf shop. The club receives a member-by-member breakdown, so the shop knows exactly how much credit is yours.

Where does my trade-in credit go?

To your club's golf shop. That's the point of the event: the value of your old clubs stays at your club, and the head pro and staff can help you choose what to buy with it.

What should I bring?

Any clubs you no longer play with. Drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges and putters you have replaced or stopped using are all welcome.

What can't be traded in?

Headcovers and golf bags can't be traded in. Bring the clubs only.

How do I know what my clubs are worth before the event?

Use our trade-in value calculator for an instant estimate online. Our guide to what your golf clubs are worth explains which clubs hold their value best and why condition matters.

How can I get the most out of trade-in day?

  1. Clean out the garage first. The old 3 wood you never hit and the putter you replaced two seasons ago are worth more as shop credit than sitting in a closet.
  2. Plan your purchase. Talk to your head pro before the event about what you want to buy with your credit.
  3. Bring everything at once. The event only lasts about four hours, so bring all your clubs in one trip.

My club isn't hosting one. Can I still trade in?

Yes. Anyone can trade in year round. Get a quote online and ship your clubs to us (trade-ins of $50 or more get a free prepaid shipping label), or walk in at our shop in Farmers Branch, Texas, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Read how a GolfRoots trade-in works, start to finish.
