Yes, the Paradym is still worth buying used. The Elyte has a newer face and a lighter crown on most models, but the Paradym's all-carbon body was a big step when it came out, and a clean one in the right shaft will still suit most golfers well.

Both drivers come through our shop regularly, so here is what changed between them, who each one fits, and what to check before you buy either one used.

When did the Paradym and Elyte come out?

Callaway released the Paradym drivers in early 2023 in three models: Paradym, Paradym X and Paradym Triple Diamond. They replaced the Rogue ST line.

The Paradym Ai Smoke followed in 2024, and the Elyte replaced it in January 2025. The Elyte family has four models: Elyte, Elyte X, Elyte Max Fast and Elyte Triple Diamond. Callaway has since moved on to its Quantum drivers, so both of these are now previous-generation models, which is good news if you are shopping used.

What actually changed from the Paradym to the Elyte?

  • The body. The Paradym was built around Callaway's 360 Carbon Chassis, with a carbon crown and a forged carbon sole and no titanium in the body. Callaway said that saved about 20 grams compared with the Rogue ST, and that weight was moved around the head for speed and forgiveness. The standard Elyte, Elyte X and Elyte Max Fast go a different way, pairing a titanium body with a lighter Thermoforged Carbon crown. The Elyte Triple Diamond keeps the full carbon chassis.
  • The face. Both faces were designed with Callaway's AI. The Paradym uses a forged titanium face with a lighter, wishbone-shaped Jailbreak structure behind it. The Elyte uses the Ai 10x Face, which Callaway says has ten times the control points of the Ai Smoke face, aimed at keeping ball speed up across more of the face.
  • Weight and spin. On the Elyte, Callaway moved weight lower in the head to help cut spin, and reshaped the hosel area and trailing edge for better airflow. Plugged In Golf found the Elyte spun noticeably less than the Paradym Ai Smoke Max in testing.
  • Adjustability. The standard Paradym has a 15 gram sliding perimeter weight. The standard Elyte uses a 13 gram weight that moves between fixed ports for a neutral, draw or fade setup. Both have an adjustable hosel for loft.

What stayed the same?

The lineup idea. Each family has a standard model for most players, a draw-biased X model for golfers who fight a slice, and a smaller 450cc Triple Diamond for better players who want lower spin and more control. If you know which of those you are, you can shop either generation with confidence.

Who should buy the Elyte?

The Elyte makes sense if you want the newer face, you tend to spin the ball too much, or you have a moderate swing speed and want the lighter Max Fast, a model the original Paradym family did not have. Reviewers also liked its sound, which Plugged In Golf described as a deep, low-pitched boom on center strikes. See our Elyte spotlight for more.

Who should buy the Paradym?

The Paradym is the smart buy if you want a forgiving, adjustable Callaway driver without paying for a newer model. The standard head has plenty of forgiveness for mid handicaps, the X helps if you miss right, and the Triple Diamond still suits better players. What should you check when buying a used Elyte or Paradym?

  • Crown. Both have carbon crowns. Look past sky marks for any chips or cracks in the carbon, not just scratches in the paint.
  • Face. Light wear in the center is normal. Dents, cracks or deep marks are not.
  • Weights. Make sure the sole weight is in place and tight. A missing or loose weight changes the swingweight and can rattle.
  • Hosel. Check that the adapter tightens properly and note the loft setting. A wrench is a bonus.
  • Shaft. The shaft matters more than the head generation. Check the flex, weight and length. Not sure which flex you need? Read What Shaft Flex Do I Need?

Every used club at GolfRoots is listed on its own, with exact specs and a 1 to 10 condition grade, so you know which model, loft, shaft and flex you are getting. Our guide to what wears out on used clubs covers this in more detail.

Callaway Elyte vs Paradym FAQ

Is the Elyte all carbon like the Paradym?

Only the Elyte Triple Diamond keeps the 360 Carbon Chassis. The standard Elyte, X and Max Fast use a titanium body with a Thermoforged Carbon crown.

Does the Elyte spin less than the Paradym?

Callaway moved weight lower in the Elyte to cut spin, and testers found it spun less than the Paradym Ai Smoke Max. How it compares for you depends on your swing and shaft, so a fitting or a launch monitor session is the best way to know.

Which is more forgiving, the Elyte or the Paradym?

Both families were built with forgiveness in mind, and the X models in each line are the most forgiving. The Elyte's newer face is designed to hold more ball speed on mishits, but a well fit Paradym is still a very forgiving driver.

Was there a driver between the Paradym and the Elyte?

Yes. The Paradym Ai Smoke came out in 2024, between the original Paradym and the Elyte.
