Callaway Mavrik Driver: Where Callaway's AI Face Design Started

The 2020 Mavrik was the first Callaway driver built around an AI designed face. Here's what that meant then and now.

Released in 2020, the Mavrik was the first Callaway driver to use a face designed by artificial intelligence rather than engineers alone, a starting point for the AI-designed faces Callaway still uses today.

Flash Face SS20

Callaway's supercomputers cycled through thousands of face architecture variations, learning which patterns produced faster ball speed across a larger area rather than just the center. The result was Flash Face SS20.

Jailbreak

Two internal bars connecting the crown and sole, first used in the Epic driver, carried over to Mavrik to stiffen the body and let the face flex more freely for speed.
