Vokey wedges go through generational changes that are easy to miss unless you line them up side by side. SM8, SM9, and SM10 each shifted center of gravity and groove design in a different direction.
Center of gravity
SM8 had the most forward center of gravity of the three, SM9 pushed it to the highest position Vokey had ever used, and SM10 split the difference, landing closer to true center.
Grooves
SM9 brought the first major groove revision since the SM6, using a spin milled cutter that forms the entire scoreline in one pass. SM10 refined that further with TX9 grooves cut individually by loft, narrower and deeper on lower lofted wedges, wider and shallower on higher lofted ones, plus a longer lasting heat treatment.
