TaylorMade Qi10 vs Qi10 Max vs Qi10 LS: Which Qi10 Driver Is Right for You?

TaylorMade Qi10 vs Qi10 Max vs Qi10 LS: Which Qi10 Driver Is Right for You?

The Qi10 Max is the most forgiving and highest launching, the standard Qi10 balances distance and forgiveness, and the Qi10 LS is for fast swings that spin too much. Here is how to choose.

Choose the Qi10 Max if you want the most forgiving and highest launching driver in the family, the standard Qi10 if you want a balance of distance and forgiveness, and the Qi10 LS if you swing fast and need to cut spin.

TaylorMade unveiled the Qi10 family on January 9, 2024, and the drivers reached stores on February 2, 2024. All three use a 60-layer carbon fiber face, a 460cc head and a loft sleeve that adjusts 2 degrees up or down. The differences are in shape and where the weight sits.

TaylorMade Qi10: the balanced middle

The standard Qi10 is slightly smaller than the Max, with its weight placed closer to the center of the head. It gives a neutral ball flight with mid launch. It comes in 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees.

It suits mid handicap and better golfers who want a forgiving driver without the extra launch of the Max.

TaylorMade Qi10 Max: the 10K driver

The Max was the headline of the family. TaylorMade built it around a combined MOI of 10,000, which it called a new standard for forgiveness. It has the largest profile in the lineup, the highest launch, and a heavy weight at the far back of the head. It comes in 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees.

It suits golfers who miss the center often, want the straightest driver they can find, or need help getting the ball in the air.

TaylorMade Qi10 LS: low spin for better players

The LS has a more compact, deep face shape and an 18 gram sliding weight near the face, which lowers spin and launch. It leans toward a fade in its stock setting. It comes in 8, 9 and 10.5 degrees.

It suits faster swinging players who spin the ball too much and like to work the ball. Most golfers with average speed will get more carry from the standard Qi10 or Max.

Which Qi10 should you choose?

  • If your swing is slow to moderate, or you want height: the Qi10 Max.
  • If you are a higher handicap who misses all over the face: the Qi10 Max.
  • If you are a mid to low handicap with a neutral miss: the standard Qi10.
  • If you swing fast and your drives balloon: the Qi10 LS.

What should you check when buying one used?

  • Crown and face. Sky marks and light paint wear are cosmetic. Look for cracks, dents or chips, especially on carbon crowns and faces.
  • Weights. On the Qi10 LS, check that the sliding weight is in place and locks down firmly in the track.
  • Hosel. Make sure the adapter tightens properly and note the loft setting it is in.
  • Shaft. The shaft matters as much as the head version. Check the flex, weight and length. Not sure which flex you need? Read What Shaft Flex Do I Need?

Every used club at GolfRoots is listed on its own with exact specs and a 1 to 10 condition grade, so you know exactly which version, loft, shaft and flex you are getting. Our guide to what wears out on used clubs covers this in more detail, and every order comes with 60-day returns.
